October 20th, 2020 Zoom Meeting Speaker Rick Hafele on Lake Fishing

Rich Hafele will be the October 20th zoom meeting’s Speaker and his talk will be on Lake Fishing.

Rick has a Masters degree in aquatic entomology and a minor in fisheries biology. He has worked as a professional aquatic biologist for over 30 years, specializing in using aquatic communities as water quality indicators. While working for the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, Rick was instrumental in developing the State’s bioassessment program and Oregon’s water quality standards for aquatic life. As a fly-fishing writer Rick penned the Entomology column for American Angler magazine for 30 years. He also co-authored An Angler’s Guide to Aquatic Insects and Their Imitations with Scott Roederer (Johnson Books, 1995), Western Mayfly Hatches and The Complete Book of Western Hatches with Dave Hughes (Amato Pub), Nymph Fishing Streams and Rivers (Stackpole Books 2006), and his newest releases Seasons for Trout and Tactics for Trout  (Stakpole Books 2014) co-authored with Dave Hughes and Skip Morris. Instructional DVD’s to Rick’s credit include Anatomy of a Trout Stream, the four DVD series Fly Fishing Large Western Rivers, plus Basic and Advanced Nymph Fishing, and Advanced Tactics for Emergers & Dries. For many years Rick has been sharing his knowledge with fly fishermen through books, articles, DVDs, slide shows and seminars.

Lakes fish to the beat of a different drum and this program will help you understand their rhythms.  It covers the hatches, fly patterns, and tactics needed for success on lakes throughout the West and beyond.
