Jeff Thiel will speak on Climate Change that is happening, human caused and how the cold water fish populations in the Pacific Northwest are very threatened by the stressors of climate change (low snow pack, drought/deluge, heat waves). Current scientific analysis is learning that the changes are happening faster than expected just 10 years ago as scientists improve climate models and climate data collection. So we don’t have much time to fix it.
Jeff will discuss the needed actions that are need to avert catastrophic changes if we act quickly and boldly. He states that “We have all the solutions we need, and more are coming. What we need most is the will to act individually and collectively.”
We will kick of the with a special WFFC 80th Anniversary celebration for this evenings event. Chuck Ballard will reflect on the clubs last 80 years and Jim Goedhart will be talk about the clubs future opportunities.
Fly Tier – Lael Johnson will be tying “Hobo” Spey flies.
Hope to see you all there to help us celebrate our 80th Anniversary and to hear Jeff’s talk on what can be done to reverse the negative impact of climate change on PNW fishing.
