- This event has passed.
Keith Roe, wast to be the July 16th Dinner Meeting Speaker but had to cancel out at the last minute.
Our new Dinner Speaker is Kurt Beardslee who will talk about a science-based solution that could promote wild salmon recovery and provide adequate food for Southern Resident killer whales? And what if that same solution could strengthen coastal communities by offering local fishermen increased opportunity to fish that would greatly help wild salmon recovery? In this talk, Kurt will describe Wild Fish Conservancy’s newest campaign ‘What If’ and the fundamental role selective fishing gears can play in the recovery of imperiled wild salmon and Southern Resident killer whales. The survival fish trap research was just published in the American Fisheries Societies’ publication Fisheries and accessed by clicking on the following link:
Kurt is a co-founder of the Wild Fish Conservancy and has been the organization’s Executive Director for the past 28 years. Kurt manages a professional staff of 19 individuals with a wide variety of technical and scientific disciplines. He has worked on a variety of West Coast wild fish issues, from California to Alaska. He enjoys boating, fishing and exploring the remote coastal fjords of northern Canada with his wife Candace and his dog Wally.
