Big Green Lake (Okanogan County) Outing – October 5-6, 2024
Chuck Ballard and Mike Nolan will be hosting a club outing at Green Lake in Okanogan County. This is a quality trout water located adjacent to Little Green Lake near Omak. Expect rainbows in the 11-13 inch range with few carryover fish to 15 inches. The Club will provide hamburgers and beverages for those that sign up in advance. There are several camp sites on Big Green Lake and a couple on Little Green Lake as well. We will try to hold as many as possible by arriving early. However, as these are not reservable hopefully we can get most of them tied up. The camp sites don’t have fire pits so cooking would have to be on gas grills. There is a public outhouse and please bring your own food and water, as this is dispersed unimproved camping. Motels are available in town and the commute is not far from Okanogan.
The lake mostly requires a watercraft however one could make a few casts from the boat launch as well and maybe on the shore near the camp spots. Flies that work are the usual carry special, woolly buggers, leeches and damsel fly nymphs. The whole lake is good to fish so if you’re camping at the south end and have a float tube you don’t have to commute the full length.
