Beginning Fly Casting Class – April 4th to May 9th, 2019, 6 PM to 8 PM for Six weekly sessions that are held on Thursday evenings, for two hours.
Beginning Fly Casting Class is taught by WFFC members trained by a FFI board of governors casting instructor. The class tuition is free for WFFC Members and $80 Non-Members that can be applied to become a Washington Fly Fishing Club Member if you choose to do so. Each student will be emailed a copy the WFFC Fly Casting Manual. Class size is limited to 21 Students
The class will be held at the Luther Burbank Park on Mercer Island and instruction will be held just south of the North parking lot on the lawn. The start time is 6:00 pm for approximately two hours . The class is for 6 weeks and begins Thursday April 4th.
Students are asked bring their own rods and reels with a dry type line and tapered leader. If you don’t have one yet, we will also have loaner club rods & reels for use at each session.
Beginning Fly Casting Class Weekly Instruction Overview:
1st Week – Introduction, Equipment, Preparation for Casting and Basic Casting Stroke
2nd Week – Review Casting Basics and Line Hand Skills
3rd Week – Casting Improvements Coaching and False Casting Skills
4th Week – Casting Improvements Coaching and Mending and Shooting Lines Skills
5th Week – Casting Improvements Coaching and Single Haul Skills
6th Week – Casting Improvements Coaching and Double Haul and Down-Up Skills
