April 16^th Lou Verdugo Speaker on Willamette Valley Fly Fishing

Since arriving in Oregon in 1977, Lou has not stopped fly fishing.   He has traveled to Cuba three times, Abaco Island, Christmas Island, Alaska, and Montana.  However, his passion for the Deschutes, Sea Run Cutthroats, and the Willamette Valley, especially the Mckenzie and main stem of the Willamette are his comfort zone.

He currently works and guides out of the Caddis Fly Shop in Eugene Oregon on Thursday and Fridays.  He is an avid junkie on fly tying materials and a hacker on fly tying.  Lou also instructs the Intro to Fly Fishing classes for the shop.

Lou’s basic principles on fly fishing are held within Lou’s three “P’s”:  Patience, Practice, and Passion.  Fly fishing is not about the catching or casting, it’s about what surrounds us while we are fly fishing.

We will also be holding the WFFC Fly Fishing Gear and Swap Meet at this Dinner Meeting as well, so please bring in your gear that you want members to go for.

Gary Bergquist will be the Fly Tier and hopefully showing us how to tie the fly that he caught the giant brown trout with down in Terra de Fuego.
