Event Navigation
Gibbs Lake is a beautiful quality trout water located within a large holding by Jefferson County Parks. Gibbs receives spring and fall plants of one pound Rainbow Trout and some Coastal Cutthroat Trout broodstock as well. It is a great water for a float tube, pontoon boat or pram, although there is no boat launch per se. You can park along the little fence of the park, and unload your gear, then park across the road in the designated parking areas. You must pack your boat/vessel about 60 yards to the water across a lawn. There are picnic tables and a launching area.
Gibbs is very deep just off shore, but the plentiful logs and shoreline structure harbor a solid biomass. Spinyrays abound near the lillys and cattails, and the trout cruise just outside. This author had good success with a full sinking line and bead head wolleybuggers and micro leaches.
This is a day trip only. Meet at the lake, share some info., pack a lunch, and catch some fish!
