Columbia National Wildlife Refuge (CNWR) Outing – April 29-30, 2023
John Callahan will be hosting a club outing in the CNWR. Meet at the Mardon Resort store at 7:30 am on Saturday the 29th. It is a 3 1/2 hr. drive from Seattle. John will have the WFFC banner attached to his car. Then we will go to Quail Lake. We would then go to the Sage Lakes and with available camping nearby. Plus we could fish the 2 Sages Saturday evening if so desired or if Quail is good just stay there. The camping in the CNWR is just in gravel access areas with a restroom. The Club will provide beverages as in the past, but please bring your own food and water, as this is dispersed unimproved camping.
The Mardon Resort, (509) 346-2651 or www.mardonresort.com has reservable cabins, cottages, RV sites and tent sites. Both these lakes are walk in float tube places, a short mile to Quail and 100 yds to Sage. John recommends using a floating and a slow sinking intermediate line. For flies, include a callibeatis nymph in tan size 14 2xL (Rickard’s is a good pattern), Chironomids of course, Buggers and any favorite attractor pattern. If anyone has questions email John at ajc@bmi.net.
The outing is Free for WFFC Members and $40 fee for non-WFFC Members which can be applied towards becoming a annual member dues of $80.
