SUMMARY:February 2026 Club Dinner Meeting Featuring Frank Burr : The Golden Trout Dude
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our February 2026 monthly club meeting with Frank Burr! \nFrank’s presentation will cover sink rates for different types of beads and other weights for Nymphing. Where to find the right beads and methods to incorporate them in tying your Nymphs. How they are affected by various moving and Stillwater applications. Leaders for Nymphing and how they affect presentation. Techniques\, methods and how to apply them to maximize your nymphing success!!! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n__________________\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBackground \nFrank (The Golden Trout Dude) learned Tenkara fishing in Japan in 1970 at the age of 6\, followed by Traditional Fly Fishing and Fly tying the following year. \nA native of Southern California\, Frank fly fishes throughout the United States\, always looking for the elusive Heritage Trout. Although Trout is his favorite species\, Frank will fly fish for any species just to get in a day of fishing\, like Tilapia\, Peacock Bass and the native freshwater Goby in Hawaii. \nFrank has worked in the fly fishing industry for the past 12 years\, first at Orvis and now for Snowbee USA\, assisting in the design of Ultralight Fly Rods and other products in the Snowbee line. \nHe’s also a Traditional Fly Fishing and Tenkara instructor and Guide specializing in Golden Trout and other Heritage Trout species in California. \nFrank speaks and instructs at the Fly Fishing Show and other related events\, clubs and shows in the USA on a variety of fly fishing related subjects and volunteers as many days as possible each year teaching youth fly fishing programs. \nFrank is also now on the staff at The Fly Fishing Show. He has been the Trout in the Classroom coordinator for the Pasadena Casting Club and currently the TIC Director for the Southwest Council of Fly Fishers International. \nYou can find more information about Frank at: goldentroutdude.com\, oasisflyshop.com and tenkaraguidecalifornia.com. \n___________________________________________ \n Same meeting venue: The Hall at Occidental\nThe Hall at Occidental\, 589 Occidental Avenue South\, Seattle. \nHere’s the lowdown on the location: \n\nIt’s directly across the street (west side) from the northwest corner of Lumen Field (where the Seahawks play).\nIt’s kitty-corner from that big parking lot to the north.\nThe area is well-lit\, secure\, and has been seriously upgraded with fancy condos and offices—if you’ve been to a game lately\, you know the drill. It’s not technically downtown or Pioneer Square. It’s its own cool spot.\nYou can get here from basically anywhere (I-90\, I-5\, 99\, Light Rail\, bus\, surface streets—the whole kit and caboodle).\nParking: Lumen Field lots close early (6 pm!)\, so don’t count on them. Good news is there’s convenient parking right next door. Just be sure to give yourself some extra time to get settled!\n\nThe venue is run by the same folks who run a bunch of beer halls (which\, let’s face it\, is a perfect spot for a fly fishing club!). We’ll be upstairs in a private mezzanine that seats 40 people. \nGET YOUR NAME ON THE LIST EARLY TO GRAB A SEAT! \nDinner:\nJust like before – buy your own pub grub – the meeting itself is FREE! You can’t beat that anywhere in Seattle!! \n(Heads up: they tack on a mandatory 20% gratuity and 10.35% tax\, so factor that in.) \n We Need You There!\nThis new venue is a test for us\, and it’s a test for The Hall! We need a solid turnout to show them we’re a good partner—translation: we need to show them we spend enough on grub and drinks to make it worth their while. \nSo please\, sign up as early as you can and show up! We need to pack the room to make these dinner meetings a regular thing!
