SUMMARY:July 2026 Club Dinner Meeting Featuring Jason Planke
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our July 2026 monthly club meeting featuring Jason Planke. Jason will cover fishing the Cedar River. \nJason grew up in upstate New York plying the waters of the Catskills and Adirondacks for wild trout. He began wielding a fly rod around the grand old age of 8 as well as tying flies and was an early adopter to fly rodding the Salmon River for steelhead. \nHe’s a premiere PNW guide and will be educating on us how\, where\, and what to fish on our local gem\, the Cedar River. \nZoom link will be sent to all members.

SUMMARY:September 2026 Club Dinner Meeting Featuring the Wild Steelhead Coalition
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our September monthly meeting back at the Seattle Tennis Club in Seattle! Ed Sozniho will be our guest speaker representing the Wild Steelhead Coalition. Ed will update us on the current state of wild steelhead.\n\n\n\n\nThe Wild Steelhead Coalition is working to restore wild steelhead populations in their native watersheds to levels that provide self-sustaining runs and economic vitality to local communities.\n\n\n\n\n“Wild steelhead are an icon of the Pacific Coast\, a bellwether for the health of its watersheds\, and the life force of an international community of passionate anglers. Yet the state of Steelhead Country is precarious\, and the only way back to steady ground is with a paradigm shift in how we manage these invaluable fish.”\n\n\nhttps://www.wildsteelheadcoalition.org

SUMMARY:October 2026 Club Dinner Meeting Featuring Phil Rowley
DESCRIPTION:Please join us at the Tennis Club for an evening with Phil Rowley! \nPhil has been fly fishing for over 35 years. His love of fly fishing has taken him across North and South America. He has pursued trout\, Atlantic and Pacific salmon\, char\, pike\, walleye\, and numerous other species on the fly. But\, Phil is probably best known for his stillwater exploits. \nHe has appeared on several T.V. shows\, including B.C. Outdoors Sports Fishing\, Sports Fishing Adventures\, The New Fly Fisher\, Sport Fishing B.C.\, Fishing Alberta\, Let’s Go Outdoors\, and Fishing with Shelly and Courtney. \nPhil’s presentation provides a deep dive into various aspects of stillwater fly fishing:  rods\, lines\, leaders\, and indicators.  He’ll discuss casting techniques for floating and sinking lines\, long leaders and complex indicator setups.  He also discusses casting techniques for dealing with the wind and essential stillwater retrieves.

SUMMARY:Lake Hannan Outing
DESCRIPTION:This close-in favorite is open to our friends and us Saturday only\, at Lake Hannan from 8:00 to 4:00. This is the lake at Camp Hamilton\, north and east of the Duvall\, Monroe\, Carnation Hwy. \nTake the Woodinville/Duvall road to the end\, turn north on the SR 203 out of town\, and go past the first Cherry Valley road\, a couple of miles\, to the second Cherry Valley road that slants uphill on the right. Follow the road east toward Lake Fontal for a few miles\, and watch for the sign to Camp Hamilton. Go through a yellow gate\, and follow to the launch area at Hannan. This is a private lake owned by the Catholic Church\, which has permitted us to fish for a day. Please respect their strict NO ALCOHOL policy. The Club provides cooked chili and will provide nonalcoholic beverages. Please bring appetizers\, side dishes\, and desserts to share! \nThe fishing is pretty easy\, with intermediate lines working small leech patterns being the go-to. There is an on-again\, off-again mayfly hatch among some chironomids if the weather warms\, and damsels in the shoreline weeds account for most of the brookies. \nThe lake has a healthy population of native cutthroat and some hybrid cutt-bows as a result of stocking over the years. This is a healthy\, undeveloped\, west-side lowland lake. A rare treat for fly anglers. \nMembers\, if you can take another member in your boat to fish on Lake Hannan\, please acknowledge this in the “I will Assist With” sign-up\, so that we can organize members to fish with you. \n\nTight lines—see you at the water’s edge!

DESCRIPTION:Join us November 6–8\, 2026\, for a fly-fishing outing on the North Fork of the Stillaguamish River\, hosted by Ben Davidson. River conditions can change dramatically\, so plans may need to stay flexible. Barring emergency closures\, the North Fork system opens to fly fishing only on November 1st—a clear advantage for us. There is ample room for tents and overnight trailer parking\, a private porta potty for our group\, and a great fire pit for cooking and sharing fish stories. Come fish for cutthroat trout\, steelhead\, and Dolly Varden. For information\, river access spots\, or recommended tactics\, call Ben at (206) 313-3531. \nBen’s riverfront property sits on the North Fork Stillaguamish near Oso\, WA\, at 26930 305th St. NE\, Arlington\, WA. The club will supply beverages\, plus burgers and brats for those who sign up in advance. Please bring appetizers\, side dishes\, or desserts to share. SUMMARY:November 2026 Club Dinner Meeting Featuring Tim Bird
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our club’s November meeting featuring Tim Bird! \nTim came to the Seattle area from his native England in 1990 to work in biomedical research. A life-long angler\, he took up fly-fishing in earnest after retirement. For the past 8 years he has been exclusively targeting sea-run Cutthroat and Coho salmon in the waters near his home in Kitsap County.  Intrigued by the old-time fly patterns created by the pioneers of SRC fishing in the PNW\, Tim started a fly-tying YouTube channel. “The Saltwater Fly Angler” now focuses more on actual fishing in his home waters. \nTitle and Synopsis \n‘Shore Fishing for Sea-Run Cutthroat Trout in Central/North Puget Sound and Hood Canal’ \nUsing data from my own fishing logs\, I’ll describe the ideal locations and conditions for targeting SRC from the shore\, including a brief discussion of gear and techniques. I’ll take a detailed look at some of my favorite beaches\, and what makes them productive. I’ll finish my talk with a review of the natural diet and feeding habits of SRC\, and show some proven fly patterns old and new.
