DESCRIPTION:Please join us at the Tennis Club for an evening with Phil Rowley! \nPhil has been fly fishing for over 35 years. His love of fly fishing has taken him across North and South America. He has pursued trout\, Atlantic and Pacific salmon\, char\, pike\, walleye\, and numerous other species on the fly. But\, Phil is probably best known for his stillwater exploits. \nHe has appeared on several T.V. shows\, including B.C. Outdoors Sports Fishing\, Sports Fishing Adventures\, The New Fly Fisher\, Sport Fishing B.C.\, Fishing Alberta\, Let’s Go Outdoors\, and Fishing with Shelly and Courtney. \nPhil’s presentation provides a deep dive into various aspects of stillwater fly fishing:  rods\, lines\, leaders\, and indicators.  He’ll discuss casting techniques for floating and sinking lines\, long leaders and complex indicator setups.  He also discusses casting techniques for dealing with the wind and essential stillwater retrieves.

SUMMARY:November 2026 Club Dinner Meeting Featuring Tim Bird
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our club’s November meeting featuring Tim Bird! \nTim came to the Seattle area from his native England in 1990 to work in biomedical research. A life-long angler\, he took up fly-fishing in earnest after retirement. For the past 8 years he has been exclusively targeting sea-run Cutthroat and Coho salmon in the waters near his home in Kitsap County.  Intrigued by the old-time fly patterns created by the pioneers of SRC fishing in the PNW\, Tim started a fly-tying YouTube channel. “The Saltwater Fly Angler” now focuses more on actual fishing in his home waters. \nTitle and Synopsis \n‘Shore Fishing for Sea-Run Cutthroat Trout in Central/North Puget Sound and Hood Canal’ \nUsing data from my own fishing logs\, I’ll describe the ideal locations and conditions for targeting SRC from the shore\, including a brief discussion of gear and techniques. I’ll take a detailed look at some of my favorite beaches\, and what makes them productive. I’ll finish my talk with a review of the natural diet and feeding habits of SRC\, and show some proven fly patterns old and new.
